Cologne has an integrated transportation system. Trams travel through the Old Town, some above ground (east-west lines), some underground (north-south lines); they also share some lines with freight trains. Subway stations are marked on the Cologne city map by the letter “U” in a red circle. Tickets are sold individually or for groups of up to 5 persons (valid 9 a.m.-3 a.m.); you can also buy a 7-day travel card. The bus and railroad stations are next to the cathedral.
