PERSONAL SAFETY

The Police Municipale (blue uniforms) carry police duties in cities and towns. The Gendarmes (blue trousers, black jackets, white belts), the national police force, cover the countryside and smaller places. The CRS deal with emergencies and also look after safety on beaches. Monaco has its own police.

To help prevent crime:

Do not use unmanned roadside rest areas at night

Do not carry more cash than you need

Do not leave valuables on the beach or poolside

Beware of pickpockets in crowded places

Avoid walking alone in dark alleys at night

Cars should be secured.

Police assistance: Phone: 17 from any call box
