Meaford

Beautiful Joe Park is dedicated to a dog named Beautiful Joe who was abused before being rescued and adopted by a loving family. The dog's story was memorialized by Canadian author Margaret Marshall Saunders in her 1893 novel “Beautiful Joe.” The park, at Edwin and Berry streets, contains Beautiful Joe's gravesite. Animal lovers are attracted to its 3 hectares (8 acres) to view the tributes to K-9 units from around the world. For information phone (519) 538-5895.

The Meaford Hall Arts & Cultural Centre presents year-round events including theater, music and art shows; phone (519) 538-0463, or (877) 538-0463 in Ontario.
