DESTINATION

Enid

In an effort to encourage the Rock Island Railroad to stop at Enid rather than its rival North Enid, an unknown party sawed through the supports on a railroad trestle southeast of town. While attempting to pass through Enid on its usual route, the train fell into a gully, thereby making its first official “stop” at Enid. Enid later was included on the route.
