About LenexaNa-Nex-Se, the wife of a Shawnee Indian chief, lent her name to the Kansas City suburb of Lenexa in 1869. The community attracted German, Swiss and Belgian farmers by the early 1900s, and in the 1930s was known for its prolific spinach crops.
