Home / Travel Guides - Prosser

About ProsserPart of the Yakima Valley's fruit growing district, Prosser also is a shipping point for cattle and sheep. The treeless Horse Heaven Hills, where wild horses once roamed, rise to the south. Horse Heaven Vista, 2.5 miles southeast via SR 221, offers a panorama of the lower Yakima Valley, the Cascades and the Yakima River.

Vineyards are plentiful in the area; harvest time is generally the last 2 weeks in September. More than 30 area wineries offer tastings; for more information contact the Prosser Visitor Information Center. Vintner's Village, off I-82 exit 80 at 100 Merlot Drive, is made up of a dozen wineries spread out over a 32-acre site; phone (509) 786-7401.
