Campground Overview

St. Stephens Historical Park is the site of one of the most important historical and archaeological sites in Alabama. St. Stephens was the site of a Spanish fort, an American fort, and the Alabama Territorial Capital. The historic site of Old St. Stephens is a valuable cultural resource that enhances and informs our understanding of the lives of the early settlers along the frontier of our new nation in the 1800s.In addition to the historical sites, the park boasts over 15 miles of trails for hiking and horseback riding, a 70-acre quarry lake with a sandy beach, fishing, boating, an 18-hole disc golf course, and bird watching. The park has tent camping sites, over 40 RV sites with full hook-ups, and 9 cabins for rent. There is a boat launch into the Tombigbee River and into our lake. Visit St. Stephens for a beautiful getaway hidden in the woods of southwest Alabama. We hope to see you soon!

** Please call to inquire about Cabin reservations**

Check In

Check In Time: 2PM | If you arrive for check-in during our office hours, please stop by the park office to register and complete payment, if needed. If you plan to arrive after our office closes, full payment must be made before the office closes. This is usually done via credit or debit card. A registration packet will be placed in your site's mailbox on the front porch of the park office. The combination to the lock will be the last 4 digits of the telephone number on your reservation. You are required to sign the cover page of the packet and return it to the front office, either in person or in the Document Drop Box, by noon of the following day. The office number is 251-247-2622. During the months November through February, the park gate is closed from 3PM-6PM daily. The main road of the park is not open for travel during those hours. This closing is mandated by a state lease and is not controlled by park management.
