My first impression wasn't warming at all, I must say. Where the hotel is located coming from New York there is a sketchy underbridge you have to navigate underneath the interstate to get to the hotel. We arrived during the night and it was dark with no light for drivers to see. Very dangerous. Secondly, the attendant who checked us in was not warming at all. We had to ring the bell for someone to greet us. She was not forthcoming and I got the impression it wasn't her personality but her impression of me that led her to not be hospitable. I have never come into a hotel where I had to ask about amenities complimentary to me during a stay that I am paying for. That information is always given. After asking about breakfast, pool and gym access; we were given a room (not asked about a preference) just given a room. She also did not give any information about Wifi. I just guessed when I got to my room on how to access. The room was older than I imagined, not as cozy as I'd thought the name of the hotel would reflect but it served its purpose for the weekend. The next day, I had breakfast. The breakfast was not continental but it did have many options for every appetite. The guests were numerous and the kitchen kept the food coming, it was various amounts of food. The only hot food was bacon and some processed western omelette to go with it. The service was good. The front desk staff changed from the unpleasant grouch we experienced the night prior and was much more friendlier. We request for our room to be visited by housekeeping for ancillary items and they were more than happy to provide that service for us. I am not sure I would stay here again for a planned vacation but the stay turned out to be good for a weekend getaway. PLUS, they have amazing cookies that are made fresh throughout the day for your taking in the lobby! I might return for those!
