TELEPHONES

Public telephones are easy to find, although the traditional red booths are now rare in towns and cities. Use cash, a credit card or a prepaid telephone card; most phones accept coins and cards. Public telephones take 10p, 20p, 50p and £1 coins (20p is the minimum call charge), but if you put a higher-value coin in and do not use it all up the difference will not be refunded. Buy phone cards from tobacconists, post offices, stationery stores and any place displaying the phone card sign.
