MEDICAL INSURANCE
Private medical insurance is recommended. All treatment in a hospital (sairaala) has to be paid for. Foreign visitors can receive good service at a private hospital or health center (lääkäriasema); for 24-hour medical advice Phone:10023. For private medical care contact Mehiläinen, Runeberginkatu 47A, Helsinki Phone:09 431 4444 (24 hours).

DENTAL SERVICES
Dentists (hammaslääkäri) charge for treatment and can be expensive, so check that treatment is covered by your medical insurance. 24-hour clinics are available in city hospitals.

SUN ADVICE
Southeast Finland has the highest summer temperature in Scandinavia, so precautions are necessary. Use a suitable sunscreen and cover up sensitive skin.

DRUGS
Prescription and nonprescription medicines are available from pharmacies (apteekki). If you need a pharmacy outside regular hours, information about the nearest all-night facility is posted at all pharmacies. Note that drugstores (kemikaalikaupa) sell only cosmetics.

SAFE WATER
Tap water is safe to drink, and mineral water (kivennäisvesi) is widely available.
