Introduction

``All that we see is superb, the Ardennes are enchanting...''
From a letter written by French author Victor Hugo

Introduction

Luxembourg lies at the heart of the European landmass. It is a minuscule country, measuring 51 miles from north to south and a mere 32 miles from east to west. Belgium lies to the north and west, France to the south and Germany to the east. Because of its attractive financial laws and constitutional stability, it has become a center of European politics and finance. And despite a turbulent history, Luxembourg retains its independence and sovereignty; it is a true survivor of the Continent's stormy past.
