Getting Around
Mediterranean Flavors Shopping and Nightlife Pompeii Safety in Naples |
Getting Around Once you get your bearings, central Naples is best tackled on foot, as the traffic is so horrendous that any form of transportation can be excruciatingly slow. Much of what you'll want to see is walkable, and sights are grouped together in different areas, so take a bus or cable car to your general destination and then walk. Wandering around is an essential part of the Naples experience, as the street life is lively and beguiling - but stick to well-frequented areas. You'll want to travel down the coast to Pompeii and the Sorrento peninsula; both can be reached by train. The best way to appreciate the beauty of Naples' spectacular setting on the bay is from the sea; you could combine this with a boat trip to Sorrento or to the ravishing islands of Capri and Ischia. |
