Parc des Buttes-Chaumont - complete with lake, rocky island, bridges and waterfall, this was the first park to be laid out in the city's northern districts.
Parc André-Citroën - this ultra-modern park in the 15th arrondissement combines architecture with nature and experiments with colours, metals and water to create different impressions and striking contrasts.
Bois de Boulogne and Bois de Vincennes - landscaped in the English style at the end of the 19th century with artificial lakes, lawns, woodland areas, footpaths and tracks for horse-riding and bicycling, these offer an ideal one-day break from city life. The Bois de Boulogne boasts two racecourses as well as cafés and restaurants while the Bois de Vincennes has a racecourse and a working farm open to the public.
