Saratoga Springs

The resort also is gaining popularity as a year-round sports and convention center. Equestrian events are popular year-round. Polo matches are played during the summer at the Saratoga Polo Grounds off Seward Street/Denton Road; phone (518) 584-8108. In August spectators can watch the Thoroughbred races at Saratoga Race Course on Union Avenue, said to be the oldest course in the country. Winter events focus on Saratoga Springs' many alpine and cross-country skiing facilities and ice skating and snowshoeing areas. On SR 50 is the Wilton Mall, which includes anchor JCPenney. Downtown Saratoga's Broadway Street features specialty stores with fine art, decorative crafts and antique books.
