Some stores stay open until 8 or 9 on Thursday or Friday. On Sunday some bigger stores and many supermarkets open from noon until 5 or 6. In smaller towns and rural areas stores close in the afternoon on one day of the week. Pharmacies may close earlier on Saturday.

Some banks in small towns close 12:30-1:30. Banks open until 5 p.m. one day a week (Thursdays in Dublin). Nearly all banks are closed on Saturday.

Post offices close for lunch (1-2:15) and open until 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

Hours for museums and tourist sights vary; always check with the local tourist office. Some places close from October to March, although most major sights are open all year.
