ELECTRICITY
The Republic of Ireland has a 220-volt and Northern Ireland a 240-volt power supply. Electrical sockets either take plugs
with two round pins or three square pins; American appliances will need a plug adapter and will require a transformer if they
do not have a dual-voltage facility.
RESTROOMS
Identify restrooms by Fir (men) and Mná (women). A small charge is levied in restrooms at some railroad stations, but most
other facilities are free. The standards of hygiene are moderate. You will be welcomed into any local pub if you need to use
their facilities, but stop for a drink and a talk while you are there.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Irish skies are unpredictable and the light frequently poor, so you may need fast film. Bring a tripod for landscape work,
and possibly black-and-white film. Film and camera batteries are widely available in many stores and drugstores.
