North of County Kerry lies the lovely Dingle peninsula and County Clare. Clare's southern half is mundane, but becomes increasingly spectacular the farther north you go, past the huge, echoing Cliffs of Moher and into the limestone country of the Burren, with its natural pavements of moonscape rock, dramatic stone burial chambers and hill forts.

In the pubs of Clare you will encounter the heart-stopping, foot-tapping essence of Irish music and song, in an environment that preserves the best of the past with energy, vitality and lyricism.
Off Clare's northwestern coast are the stunning Aran Islands, the magic names of Inishmor, Inishmaan and Inisheer resonating with all things Irish. Beyond Clare is Galway Bay and Galway city, the latter a lively, unfailingly charming place on the threshold of the Gaeltacht, the major area of Gaelic-speaking Ireland. Here, the mountains of Connemara and the broad lakes Loughs Corrib and Mask match an astonishing coastline of raw, rocky wilderness that lies to either side of the romantic town of Clifden.
Inland, Ireland also has much to offer. The heart of the country is a green bowl of rich farmland, of lakes, rivers and isolated ranges of rounded hills. Landlocked Ireland is outshone by the stupendous coastline of the far west, but it is a charming country full of character and tradition, where you will hear talk of horses and history and where lakes and rivers throng with fish.
