Luxembourg: the Great Survivor
Luxembourg: the Great Survivor

Luxembourg, with its long history at the heart of Europe, has secured a major part in the working of the European Union. The country today is a constitutional monarchy ruled by HRH Grand Duke Henri, who heads a Cabinet of 12 ministers appointed from an elected Chamber of Deputies. Consensus politics is used in Luxembourg's government, and coalitions of more than one party usually hold power. On the international front, Luxembourg is home to, among others, the General Secretariat of the European Parliament, the European Court of Justice, the Court of Auditors, the European Bank of Investment and several Directorates of the European Commision - all of which are based in the city of Luxembourg's Centre Européen (European Center).
