The sun is strong during summer, particularly in the south. Dress sensibly, avoid prolonged exposure and protect yourself with a sunscreen. DRUGS
Prescription medicines are available from pharmacies (farmacias), designated by a red or green cross. Information about the nearest late-night or 24-hour facility is posted at all pharmacies. SAFE WATER
Tap water is generally safe, although it can be heavily chlorinated. Mineral water (agua mineral) is inexpensive and is sold con gas (carbonated) and sin gas (noncarbonated). Drink plenty of water during hot weather.
