DRIVING Speed limit on motorways: 110kph (70mph) Speed limit on main roads: 100kph (60mph) Speed limit on minor roads: 50-65kph (30-40mph) advisable and compulsory in built-up areas. Seat belts: Must be worn in front and back seats at all times Random Breath Testing. Limit: 30ml on breath/80ml in blood. Non-leaded, leaded and diesel fuel is available from all service stations. This normally comes in three grades, premium unleaded, 4-star and city diesel. Petrol stations are normally open 6am-10pm Mon-Sat and 8am-8pm on Sundays, though some (often self-service) are open 24 hours. All take credit and direct debit cards and many have well-stocked shops. If you break down driving your own car you can call the AA and join on the spot if you are not already a member (Phone: 0800 887766). If you are driving a hire car, call the emergency number given you by the hire company in the documentation; most rental firms provide a rescue service. |
