It has been in the Belgian premiership for decades. The supporters club 'Buffalo' is one of the liveliest in the country; it has a training centre for cheerleaders and hires out the girls to other clubs. AA Gent is unique in the Belgian football league: in the 1950s the club made the first foreign transfer and in 1999 had the distinction of having a team without a single Belgian.
