A top children’s museum, the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis contains five floors of whimsical, interactive exhibits ranging from a dinosaur habitat to a journey through contemporary China. Learning experiences abound, whether your child is playing an astronaut in Beyond Spaceship Earth or digging up the Treasures of the Earth.
More than a million visitors pass through the doors of the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis each year, making it one of the city’s most popular attractions. General admission to the museum includes all exhibits, as well as the Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience. Visitors who are only interested in the Sports Legends Experience can opt for an evening-only ticket. Admission to live shows at the Lilly Theater is free but must be reserved separately.

The museum is open throughout the year, though the outdoor Sports Legends Experience closes during the winter months. The best time to avoid crowds when you visit is on a weekday morning when school is in session.
During the warmer months don’t miss the outdoor sports experiences offered by the museum. Children of all ages can hop in a car for a race around an oval track, brush up soccer skills on a turf field, team up for doubles tennis, tee off at one of four miniature golf courses, hit the rink for some hockey, or climb up the towering Tree of Sports.
