Washington's International Selkirk Scenic Loop is part of a route that circles through Idaho, Washington and British Columbia. This section (SR 20/SR 31) begins in Newport, Wash., and follows the Pend Oreille River north to the Canadian border at Metaline.

Beginning at Newport, SR 20 and SR 31 follow the Pend Oreille River valley north into the Colville National Forest, offering stunning views of mountainous terrain that is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including bald eagles, grizzly and black bears, bighorn sheep, cougars, timber wolves, moose, elk and the endangered caribou.
