Centre Belge de la Bande Dessinée

The rather plainly named Centre Belge de la Bande Dessinée (Belgian Center for Comic Strip Art) encompasses a dazzling celebration of the strip cartoon, the bande dessinée. The strip cartoon is closely associated with Belgium, not least in the shape of Hergé's (Georges Rémi's) famous character Tin Tin, created in 1929. The form has strong design links to art nou-veau and it is an added delight that the museum building was designed in 1906 as a fabric shop by Victor Horta, the most distinguished of art nouveau architects.
