Kon-Tiki Museet

The Kon-Tiki Museet (Kon-Tiki Museum) is a colorful celebration of Thor Heyerdahl's voyages. It complements the general maritime themes of the adjacent Fram Museum and the Norwegian Maritime Museum. Heyerdahl's ethos of adventure, linked to environmentalism and international cooperation, is vividly expressed. The original Kon-Tiki balsa wood raft of his 1947 Pacific crossing and the papyrus vessel Ra II of his 1970 Atlantic crossing both reflect the Norwegian genius for maritime exploration.
