I have stayed at this property several times since 2012. We held our wedding reception here in 1982 and our 30th anniv in 2012. Never a problem until Aug. 31, 2023. Soon after check in, dogs started barking. It was still early and I thought that as long as things quiet down by bed time this would work. I would say that by 8-9pm the floor was quiet. However, the barking began again around 2AM, 4AM and 6:30AM. Needless to say, sleep was broken and not what I have come to expect from the Waterville Best Western. You might be wondering why I didn't call the front desk immediately after the 2AM waking. After decades of travel and staying in facilities across the US I've learned that sometimes when you shake the bee's nest you get stung. Not all humans are apologetic and understanding. Especially when it comes to their pets or if there has been alcohol involved. I've found that the best way to address these types of issues is to either be willing to leave the property for another property or to address the concern in the manner I am now. I emailed and sent mail by USPS to the general manager asking for 50% credit on the room. As of this review I have not heard from anyone so I have given the issue to my credit card company. In my opinion, not responding at all, is a poor business practice.
Best western Waterville, Maine Hotel is located right off I-95 next to restaurants and Wal-Mart, downtown is about two miles away. Room is good size and clean with A/C, desk, TV, frig and microwave. A/C is controlled by wall thermostat and keeps room at constant temperature. Room is nice but bed is very soft and old and broken down on one side. Bath is small and cramped, only one electric outlet, there is no powered vent and floor becomes slippery when exiting shower. Included breakfast is in hotel restaurant with only three choices which is served by restaurant staff. Rooms at this hotel are more expensive than average for this class of hotel.

Some of the items in the room needed repair & it was a little overpriced BUT loved the restaurant on the premises. The complimentary breakfast excellent & ate at the restaurant the night before th or a delicious meal

Only problem I saw was that the outside door in the rear part of the hotel where we entered did not lock.
