The hotel began life in 1837 as a cotton mill, and the exposed brick, beams, windows and more remain. Rooms are quite spacious, and no two are exactly alike. Antiques are scattered throughout the public areas, and room furnishings echo the early-American period theme. Rooms with a king bed have a living room arrangement with a pull-out sofa, often separated from the bed area by a few stairs. All floors except the fourth are accessible by elevator. For those rooms, you ride to the third floor, then climb a flight of stairs, and your reward is a room with dramatic, sloping, beamed ceilings. Complimentary buffet breakfast is served each morning in the parlor, and each evening guests are treated to a wine and cheese social, and bedtime cookies and milk. All of Old Salem’s attractions are at the hotel’s doorstep. Smoke free premises. 70 units, some efficiencies. 2-4 stories, interior corridors.
