Undergoing long-term, large-scale renovation, this former Art Deco heavyweight is returning to its pre-war glory. Be sure to ask for a renovated room, which far surpasses the ones with dated décor. From Muhammad Ali to Nikola Tesla, this hotel has had many luminary guests who have stayed one night, lived here or just visited over the many years. Madison Square Garden is across the street, as is Penn Station. Dine in the underground bank vault and have a steak dinner where they used to store the Benjamins, or head upstairs for a burger and fries at the timeless Tick Tock diner. location is great! Staff friendly. Rooms are somewhat antique, which was fun for us. The hotel itself is part of New York history.

CONS:The hotel bathroom is very small and outdated, the desk and chair inside is average. Upon walking in you would think the rooms would look as equal as the lobby NOPE! PROS: the bed looked and slept as if it was new, the view was amazing
