To begin with… I preface this review by pointing out that I rarely look to stay in hotels which are rated below four (trip advisor) or three “diamonds”. Therefore I rely heavily upon accurate reporting of the amenities and offerings of each hotel. The Seattle Warwick was the first leg of our journey and I was expecting this stay to be the “great beginning” of a fun filled fall break with my daughters. As I have stayed at the Warwick Denver…I was confident in this choice. However, upon our arrival at two o’clock in the morning, the guest attendant booked us into a room with only one king bed. I will note, when choosing this hotel, the description of the room/beds indicated “king bed or two queens”. However, it did not give me an option to pick one over the other. Therefore, when the THREE of us arrived, we were sent to a room with one king bed! It had been a long day or travel, therefore I decided to wait until the next day to deal with the room change. Not only were we greeted with only one bed, but the bathroom area had an odor of mildew. When attempting to shower, the “free toiletries” which were mentioned in the hotel description, were a “conditioning shampoo”, body wash and one small hand soap bar. I am making a note of this due to it being a three diamond hotel. There was no lotion, no make up remover pads and no hair conditioner. I specifically pay close attention to the advertisement of toiletries as I try to pack/travel light as to not check bags. So, when a hotel indicates that they are a “luxury hotel with free toiletries “, I expect decent toiletries. I would expect this level of toiletries at a two or less diamond facility. The description of the hotel also indicated that there was “in room” coffee and tea. This in inaccurate. There was no tea in the rooms, no creamer and no de-caf coffee. When I asked, the desk clerk, he said they had it upon request at the front desk. However, when asked at the front desk, the clerk at the time said that they were out. Additionally, I asked for a cork screw and was told that they stopped ordering/providing cork screws because the guests take them. I then went to the bar to inquire about a cork screw and the bartender said that he only had his “personal one”. Additional observations are noted below which didn’t necessarily “make or break” our vacation, but I feel it is necessary to point out for future customers… *There is no elevator in the parking garage. Therefore, if you do not spend the extra 30$ for valet parking, you are left carrying your luggage up/down the stairs. *When I explained my frustration about the lack of hair conditioner and tea and lotion, the desk clerk told me he would get us some. however he never did. *When I called the front desk to discuss our room/bed situation, I was told that there was not a manager on duty. However, he did apologize that we were put in a king bed room since there were queen bed rooms available. Therefore I chalk this up to incompetent customer service. *There is black mold on the bathroom ceiling. For the remainder of our trip, my children referred to this particular hotel as the “moldy one”. *The Hotel advertises that there is daily housekeeping services. However, when checking in, I was told that we needed to call each day and “schedule” to have our room cleaned. *The Hotel holds a deposit for incidentals. Obviously, I am familiar/used to/expect this. However, the Warwick holds a 100$ PER DAY. Which for my experience, they held 300$. I have never experienced this before and I consider myself a seasoned 49 year old traveler. Typically it is a $50 or $100 hold. Not to mention, I still have not received a copy of my booking receipt. So, I am still missing $300/has yet to be returned to my account. To summarize… I was and am very disappointed in our stay here. The cost to stay at the Warwick was half of our entire travel budget $569.09+300$) Which, of course I was happy to pay as it was the “Great Beginning“ to our trip. In comparison to the other “actual” three diamond hotels/resorts, this was an extreme disappointment and as I said previously, was used to compare/contrast the other hotels…”it’s better than Seattle”…it’s better than the moldy one”, etc.
