Indian River Lagoon National Scenic Byway

138.1 miles: 3 hours, 15 minutes

Enjoy Florida’s natural beauty along this 130-mile loop that encircles the Indian River estuary between the Atlantic Ocean and the mainland from Oak Hill to Sebastian. The Indian River Lagoon National Scenic Byway crosses over three main bodies of water and courses through wildlife refuges and sanctuaries, a national seashore and parks.

The byway travels down US 1 and back up on SR A1A with the Indian River then the Atlantic Ocean as scenery. Drive past stretches of empty beach, dolphins frolicking in the shallow waters, 1950s motels and luxury homes. The Indian River Lagoon system is home to more than 4,000 species of plants and animals, including dolphins, manatees, sea turtles and seahorses.
