Rathaus

The Rathaus (Town Hall) is a Cologne landmark at the heart of the Old Town. A flamboyant, octagonal, 15th-century tower tops off the 14th-century body of the building. The Renaissance loggia (porch) was added in the 1570s. Under a glass pyramid in front of the hall is a 12th-century Jewish bathhouse, the Mikwe. There was once a ghetto here, where the city's Jewish community lived until they were expelled in 1424.
