The hill rises above the Saône river, topped by the ornate mass of the 19th-century Basilique Notre-Dame de Fourvière and what appears to be a scaled-down copy of the Eiffel Tower - actually the Tour Metallique (Metal Tower), built in 1894 and now a radio and television transmitter. Take the funicular to the top and enjoy the fabulous views across the city.
