A fine 18th-century mansion houses the collection, which has fabrics from all over the world, dating from as early as the fifth century. The Far Eastern silks and embroideries are exquisite, but the Lyon silk and costumes steal the show. These intricate pieces - including designs by Philippe de Lassalle, the greatest master of them all - are still stunningly vivid. Also exhibited are articles of clothing, featuring Mariano Fortuny's Greek-influenced gowns, as wearable today as they were in the 1920s. The Musée des Arts Décoratifs (Museum of Decorative Arts) is packed with furniture, china and glass.
