Falmouth was settled by Quakers in 1661 and was one of the first New England towns founded on the principles of religious tolerance. Originally a center for whaling, shipbuilding and agriculture, it later supported salt and glass industries. Falmouth is now a picturesque year-round beach resort centered on a historic village green. It also is a seasonal departure point for passenger-only ferries to Martha's Vineyard and connecting services to Nantucket Island. Learn More...
