Nearby Aztec Ruins National Monument is a popular day trip. The Aztec Arches were considered sacred by the Puebloan Indians. One of the most impressive of these natural sandstone features is the Cox Canyon Arch, which has an estimated span of 43 feet. While the rock formations are uniformly amazing, they're not all easy to find. The Aztec Visitor Center, 110 N. Ash St., can provide driving directions to some of the more accessible arches; phone (505) 334-9551. Learn More...
