About OvertonFounded by Mormon pioneers, Overton lies just north of the site of a prehistoric Anasazi Indian Pueblo, Pueblo Grande de Nevada, known as the Lost City, which extended 30 miles on both sides of the Muddy River. The Puebloans of Lost City were farmers who built above-ground dwellings with several rooms that were used to store crops.
Overton also lies at the northern end of a scenic route that follows the northwestern shore of Lake Mead. The route is made up of SR 169 to Overton Beach and SR 147 from Overton Beach to US 95/93 and Hoover Dam.
