POINT OF INTEREST

College Football Hall of Fame

250 Marietta St. NW, Downtown, Atlanta, Georgia

The College Football Hall of Fame—also called the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame—is a modern museum honoring the greatest players of college football in the US, past and present. Anchoring the center of Atlanta’s Centennial Park District, the museum holds dozens of interactive exhibits featuring players, teams, uniforms, and history—plus virtual reality games and an indoor football field.

The museum is a stone’s throw from Downtown Atlanta and a common stop on walking or sightseeing tours of attractions in the city center. It’s also next to Centennial Olympic Park, so visitors can check out the park’s walking paths and fountains before heading inside. All-access passes grant entry to three floors of exhibits and all the games, while the Atlanta CityPASS provides admission to the museum and four additional attractions for a week or longer.

  • The museum is open Thursday through Monday from 10am to 5pm—it’s closed during mid-week.

  • There’s paid parking in a lot nearby at the corner of Baker and Marietta streets.

  • Outside food and beverages cannot be brought inside—unless they’re from Chick-fil-A.

  • The box office is open Sunday-Monday from 10am to 4:30pm, and Wednesday-Saturday from 10am to 4:30pm.

  • Virtual reality games and football skill tests are ideal for families with kids.

The Hall sits next to the west side of Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta. To reach it from Downtown, walk north on Marietta Street for less than one mile (1.6 kilometers), and you’ll arrive in about five minutes. The bus line #26 stops in front of the museum at Marietta Street and Park Avenue West, while the ATLSC light rail runs from Dobbs Plaza to Centennial Olympic Park.

The museum is open Thursday through Monday from 10am to 5pm. Visiting during a college football game is ideal, as the Hall typically gets involved with celebrations and corollary events. The annual Peach Bowl (officially called the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl) is held in December when visitors can celebrate at the Hall of Fame with holiday-themed activities and Christmas carols.

The public park next door to the Hall of Fame was built for the 1996 Summer Olympic Games, held in Atlanta. When visiting, look for the Fountain of Rings commemorating the Games, see the sculpture of Olympic Rings, and check out the gardens and playgrounds. The park is also nearby a clutch of Downtown attractions, from the SkyView Atlanta Ferris Wheel across the street to the Georgia Aquarium, National Center for Civil and Human Rights, and the historic Fairlie-Poplar District.
