Step into the world of Nobel Prize winner and radio pioneer Guglielmo Marconi at the fascinating Guglielmo Marconi Museum just outside Bologna. Housed in the imposing Villa Griffone, Marconi’s former home and the site of many of his scientific experiments and discoveries, the museum is devoted to the inventor’s life and works.

Villa Griffone is located in Pontecchio Marconi, about 9 miles (15 kilometers) outside Bologna along the SS 64 highway. The 92 bus runs from the Bologna bus terminal every 30 minutes.

The Guglielmo Marconi Museum can only be visited with a guided tour, offered each Sunday morning to the general public, or by appointment on other days.

Get a glimpse of Marconi's innovations by visiting the museum collection, which includes a number of working replicas of 19th-century scientific instruments (including a spark-gap transmitter), as well as a recreation of Marconi’s laboratory. You can also see film clips of the inventor that focus on the years between 1895, coinciding with his first experiments in wireless telegraphy, to 1901, when the first transatlantic transmission of radio signals began.
