Palmse Manor (Palmse Mois)

Palmse, Vihula, Lääne-Viru County, 45435

One of Estonia’s grandest baroque mansions, Palmse Manor (Palmse Mois) in Lahemaa National Park dates back to the late 13th century, when it was part of Tallinn's St. Michael's nunnery. Restored to its former glory, it’s now an open-air museum and its buildings are under state protection as architectural monuments.

The basics

At the museum, visitors can learn about Estonian manor life and architecture while surrounded by the natural beauty of the national park. Everyone from children to history enthusiasts will find plenty to keep them entertained, whether picnicking on the manor’s grounds, visiting the wine cellar, or dining on national Estonian dishes at the tavern. It’s also a popular venue for exhibitions, plays, and concerts. For travelers who want a longer visit, there’s an on-site guesthouse where you can spend the night.

Guided tours from Tallinn to Lahemaa National Park typically include a visit to Palme Manor.
