Candlewood Suites Ft Jackson By Ihg

Stayed for 12 days. Didn't start out well on 9/5. Lights didn't work in 102 upon entering. Went to the front desk and no one was to be found -- even though I had checked in just 2 minutes earlier. Went back to the room to try the phone (thinking maybe someone had a cordless or cell phone with them.) No answer. Went back to the front desk and awkwardly waited some more. During that time, a couple of other guests appeared to looking for a front desk person as well. That person finally came in a door from the outside and moved me to 102 -- fortunately across the hall. But I still had to prop both doors open as I moved all of my bags -- once again. A few nights later, I wanted a snack from the little commissary area they have in the lobby. Was ready to pay for the items (as directed by the sign indicating credit cards only.) Once again...no one at the front desk. I am the type that will generally follow rules, so I waited for over 10 minutes to pay. Finally the front desk person showed up, only to tell me to go ahead and take the items. Had I known, I would have just left with them. Might as well, it's not like anyone is paying attention, anyway. But I didn't want to steal them. At some point, the carpets were cleaned in the rooms. There was notice posted on my door, and I moved some of my personal items accordingly But when I returned to the room, the carpet was still damp and I noticed a musty odor the next day. Good thing that I was only there another day or so anyway. Overall, it was a place to sleep and eat (was working 12 -14 hour days anyway) but not as nice as the Candlewood that my wife and I stayed in at Sandston VA. The front desk staff was cordial and did their jobs -- but I don't think it's acceptable to leave the front desk in a hotel unattended for more than maybe 1-2 minutes. Might stay at this one again, but probably wouldn't book for than a night until I test the waters.
