Congress Hall

I recently booked a one-night stay package (about $500 value) at Congress Hall in Cape May through AAA. Upon arrival around noon, we were initially assigned a room with all the windows directly facing the hotel’s humongous industrial compressor. The noise level was extremely high—making it impossible to rest or relax. When I asked to switch rooms, the front desk staff seemed hesitant, and I was later told by the manager that no other rooms were available. However, after I expressed concern that such a room should not be offered to any guest, I was then offered a room on 4th floor with windows facing the compressor but above the compressor. While I appreciated the eventual change, the inconsistency in responses was frustrating and disappointing. I was also troubled by the implication that my third-party booking through AAA may have affected the quality of the room I was initially assigned. I’m sharing this feedback not only because of the initial subpar room condition, but in the hope that the hotel will consider seriously either mitigating the noise for rooms near the compressor, refraining from offering them to guests, or clearly disclosing the issue upfront and offering those rooms at a significantly reduced rate if any takers (personally, I wouldn’t take such rooms for free).
