AAA Diamond Inspector Notes

This château-style, grande dame hotel sits on a lake—considered by some to be a "Wonder of the World"—surrounded by ruggedly beautiful mountains and glaciers. Lovely rooms range in size and grandeur. The upscale Fairview Bar & Restaurant is one of the most sought after dining options for fantastic views of the lake and a tantalizing menu that explores a diverse seasonal selection of cuisine utilizing top-notch ingredients. Reservations are limited to hotel guests although walk-ins are sometimes available for outside guests. They also offer a delightful afternoon tea which anyone can book. Seemingly endless activities, including yoga on the dock, stretching, boot camp sessions and even painting opportunities are offered. The numerous family and children's activities include pajama parties, photo scavenger hunts, kids’ campouts and canoe racing for teens. Winter activities include skating on the lake, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and sleigh rides. Pay activities include a fantastic spa, numerous dining options, canoe rentals, horseback riding, guided hikes and world-class skiing. Smoke free premises. 539 units, some two bedrooms. 8 stories, interior corridors.

We had great room with a view of the lake. We enjoyed picking up a light fare for breakfast and hiking around the lake side.

Do not book through AAA for this hotel. My parents and I booked separate rooms, but I had an upgraded suite. The hotel informed me on check in that despite my higher price room I was charged, AAA booked us both the standard rooms

Overall the rooms were nice but there was little standing room in the bathroom or around the rest of the room. There was too little countertop space in the bathroom as well. There was no where to place anything and it was like juggling with the hairdryer. The amenities and chairs in the room were nice. The AC unit worked great, but there was room for improvement.
