The Monterey Tides was average. I was provided an amount of $170.08 for Taxes and Fees from Triple AAA when I was considering the lodging. Upon check out was socked with an additional $256.66 in fees so the total tax and fees for 4 nights was $426! The total amount for 4 nights was 1,600.66 for an average place which to me is too expensive. The Tides needs updating and overall the Fees are hidden cost that they hit you with at checkout is too expensive for what they have to offer. The Tides should have been upfront with Triple AAA about the Fees and and I would have respected that and made an informed decision, but they way they hid the charges was shady in my opinion because it was unexpected and not in my plan. I would not recommend staying here for what they charge. There are other options in Monterey. nc

The beds were very uncomfortable. Beds were lumpy and the place was dumpy. Very disappointing. The proximity to the water was lovely but on our side of the hotel we only heard the highway.

Awesome hotel, we really enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed longer. My only gripe is that parking and resort fees were added upon check in which brought the cost up another $70 or so dollars, so plan accordingly. Our service animal loved his stay and had a blast on the beach. Will definitely be back!
