Very neat/clean but not crazy about hotel being pet friendly--that pets can be in any room--not just in designated area of hotel

The staff was great! The cleanliness was not. The lobby area looked to be ok but didn’t look closely as it was very late when we arrived. We stepped onto the elevator to take our luggage up and ughh it was so filthy. The old carpet in elevator with lots of debris on it was very disgusting. Then upon entering our room there was lots of black globs stuck in the carpet of our room (old gum?). Next, the air conditioner unit had so much dust/dirt/and old snacks jammed in it from previous room occupants that there’s no way air blowing through/out of that unit could be healthy. Then we wanted to shut the curtains and there was no way to pull the curtains closed or create any extra privacy because the old pull down blind (yeah never seen something like that in a hotel before) was stained and brittle and wouldn’t pull down so all we had was sheer curtains for privacy. This hotel was in a good location and the staff was nice but I definitely wouldn’t stay there again because of the poor cleaning and upkeep.
