This updated hotel is in a prime location, just a block away from San Buenaventura State Beach and nearby Hwy 101. Guest rooms are designed with modern furnishings, 50-inch TVs and comfortable beds You’ll find this location ideal for meetings, conferences and events, with a large ballroom, conference rooms and plenty of workspace in the public area. Hotel was good! But they charged extra for parking lot! And I think we should be able to park without an extra charge, but the charge because you as a guest don't have any other choice but pay for it!
The hotel rooms are updated and clean. The interior of the lobby was nice and the check in process was pleasant. The pool and spa needed a little cleaning the morning that I was there. The mess was probably from the day before. Upon arriving the exterior of the hotel was trashed and grounds were dirty. The trash can was over filled with trash and there was dog feces near the front entrance for both days of my stay. It was never cleaned up. I also went down stairs the next morning for coffee and I was assisted by a rude woman working at the kitchen/bar. I was disappointed with all that because it was the first time staying here and it was not a nice welcoming at all.
Room was well-appointed, but average-sized. Hotel overall was rather stark and uninviting. I have had better experiences at Hilton Hotels.
On arrival had to fill out lengthy form as computer was down. Room assignment was on 1st floor next to an entrance with a view of the parking lot. After asking for a better room assignment was switched to a 3rd floor room with a view of the pool and garden. It was a bit nicer too. The exercise room was nicely equipped and well kept. Pool and Jacuzzi were good (clean and heated). Room service is only upon request, we wanted our trash removed and coffee service maintained, which was done. The bed was made up too, but we didn't ask for the sheets to be changed and they weren't (OK with us). All interactions with staff were pleasant, courteous, and helpful. The on-site restaurant didn't seem to be capable of more than limited service. It was staffed only by the bartender at 8:30 pm and offered exactly two items for dessert: Vanilla Ice Cream Sundae and Creme Broulle. We ordered one of each and they were good. We had a pleasant stay (we were in Ventura after all) and would stay at this hotel again.
