Overview

At the mangrove estuary of Kuala Selangor, where the Selangor River meets the Straits of Malacca, nature unfolds in three magical scenes. At dusk, brahminy kites and white-bellied sea eagles glide low over the water during the famed eagle feeding, drawn by the rich estuarine food chain. As darkness settles, fireflies gather on berembang trees, flashing in synchrony and turning the riverbanks into ribbons of light. Later offshore, “Blue Tears” shimmer—bioluminescent plankton glowing electric blue when waves disturb the surface.
