Ecouen, Château d'
( Highly Recommended )

This elegant Renaissance castle dating from the first half of the 16th century is reminiscent of the famous castles of the Loire Valley; its painted fireplaces are especially noteworthy. It houses the Musée National de la Renaissance, whose collections of paintings, sculptures, enamels, tapestries, embroideries, ceramics, furniture, jewellery and stained glass illustrate the diversity of Renaissance art. Particularly fine is the 75m-long tapestry depicting David and Bathsheba's love story, made in a Brussels workshop at the beginning of the 16th century.
