About Big SpringThe West Texas town of Big Spring was named for the spring that served as a watering place for buffaloes, antelopes, deer, mustangs and people. The spring is now part of 400-acre Comanche Trail Park. Since the discovery of oil in 1927, Big Spring has been a refining center and a distribution point for locally manufactured oil-well machinery.
