About VernalThe Flaming Gorge-Uintas National Scenic Byway heads north from Vernal via US 191 and US 44 to Manila, passing through a region rich with wildlife and unusual geological formations. Interpretive signs along the byway provide background information. Tour operators in this area offer float trips on the Green and Yampa rivers.

Self-guiding Tours Self-guiding tour brochures are available at most local restaurants, motels and service stations as well as at the travel board. Areas covered by the tours include Dry Fork Canyon, Red Fleet Reservoir, Dinosaur National Monument and other area attractions. The travel board also has information about a walking tour of Vernal's historic sites.
