International stadiums stand alongside shopping malls, mosques, and Doha’s current tallest building—the Aspire Tower—at Aspire Zone (Doha Sports City) outside Doha. This sports leisure complex regularly hosts events, whether football matches at Khalifa International Stadium or swim meets at the Hamad Aquatic Centre.
The basics
With so many different things to do and places to go in Aspire Zone, no two visits will be the same. Alongside its general sports facilities and arenas, there is the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic & Sports Museum, which celebrates Qatar's sports history.
Nearby are the Ladies Club and Ladies Sports Hall, which are dedicated to women's recreation, and Aspire Park, which provides a vast outdoor space with walking and running tracks. However, with its indoor gondola rides, the Villagio Shopping Mall remains the complex’s most popular attraction.
Things to know before you go
There are many parking lots throughout Aspire Zone, so choose the one closest to where you’ll be going or use the VIP valet parking at the Villagio Mall.
You can find public restrooms in several locations throughout the complex and inside venues and attractions.
Villagio Mall has complimentary Wi-Fi if you need to get online at the complex.
Sidewalks between different parts of the complex aren’t necessarily designed to be barrier-free for visitors with wheelchairs.
How to get there
Aspire Zone is located on the outskirts of Doha near Al-Rayyan. Take the Gold Line on the Doha metro from downtown and alight at either Sport City or Al Aziziyah station. From the metro station, walk roughly 15 minutes past the Villaggio Mall to reach venues and facilities in the sports complex.
When to get there
Your plans for visiting Aspire Zone will drive when the best time to visit is. Many attractions, such as the Villagio Mall and 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, are open daily but are closed on Friday mornings, making it an excellent time to come to places like Aspire Park before they get busy.
The Aspire Tower
Also known as the Torch Doha due to its distinctive design, Aspire Tower is a 980-foot-high (300-meter) skyscraper in Aspire Zone. The tower hosts a 5-star hotel spread across 51 floors and has a revolving restaurant—the only one so far in Doha—so diners can enjoy its 360° panoramic views.
